Emerald City Scene Prepares Our Third Season
Also Performs @ ARTOPIA this Saturday Only!
After five staged productions, one movie shoot, and a handful of themed fundraisers, Emerald City Scene is super stoked to announce its third season.
In the Winter of 2009, we will produce "Beast With Two Backs," written by Don Nigro and directed by Nathaniel Porter. ECS has wanted to produce this play for a while now, and we're finally going to do it. It's a dark comedy about love, art, and Moby Dick. The play will have a live band!
Then in the Spring of 2009 we will show, "The Dreamer Examines His Pillow" written by John Patrick Shanley and directed by Ryan Barret Naumann. We're very excited to have first-time ECS director Ryan attached to this project. He has some really great ideas about how to make this play a full experience for anyone who walks in the door.
We will also be beginning preliminary research for our "Seattle Theatre Documentary," (working title) co-directed by Ben Rapson & Mike Jeppesen. And, we'll be doing a workshop and a publicly viewable staged reading of "Ducks in a Puddle," an original script in progress by Nathaniel Porter.
We are very excited to be producing these works and hope you will continue to join us in our ventures. In fact, you have an opportunity to do so this Saturday June 28th for a special performance of "Breakfast for Five" This is a short one-act showing at ARTOPIA in ZONE 2: THE STABLES (click on Event Map after clicking here for a map of the event) at 2pm and 8pm. This play is bizarre, hilarious, and straight out of the twisted imagination of co-founding company member Jake Farley. He actually wrote the play specifically for the space we're performing in!
Join us for "Breakfast for Five" this Saturday at 2pm and 8pm, and enjoy your own big bowl of SCUMBO! It's a short trip down to Georgetown (click here for directions), but please, please, please get there early. Our seating is very limited, and last years ARTOPIA had over 5,000 arts-goers show up throughout the day. We suggest you make a day of it. ARTOPIA is a free arts festival put on by the Seattle Weekly, there will be entertainment of all sorts from 12pm to 10pm.
Finally, Emerald City Scene finished as a TOP FINALIST for Seattle's Favorite Theatre Company in the Seattle PI's NW Source People's Pick! It makes us proud to be named among so many great companies after only two seasons. We'd like to thank all of you who voted for us, it's your support that keeps us rocking.
